Q & A with Anna from Gertie and Me

Sometimes I daydream about what a store front of Mummy's Favourite would look like. Pretty! Fabrics! Cups of tea! Timber! Beautiful fragrances ... A happy and friendly place ... One of the products that I know would be hard to keep clean would be the Gertie and Me soft toys. But then again, the Gertie range doesn't hang around for long :) They are simply deliciously soft and cuddly. One of the advantages of buying online is that our goodies are not over handled!

1. How long have you been running your business? 3 ½ years

2. What were you doing prior to your current venture? Nursing

3. If you had to choose your favourite product from your range, what would it be & why? Gertie Pup, it’s so adorable, she’s my business partner and works with me each day.

4. What do you do to relax? Run or walk with some girlfriends on Sat mornings then have brekky together

5. If you were able to go wherever you wanted to this weekend, where would it be? The beach, preferably somewhere warm, with my husband, kids and Gertie

6. What was the last thing that you purchased? A bigger house to accommodate the family and the business!

7. Who lives at your place? My husband, twin boys Nick and Jonny 2 ½ years old, and Gertie the Jack Russell Terrior

My little brother's wedding

My two brothers have both married within the last 10 months and my kids are now expert page boys and flower girls! (sorry - won't be posting pics of kids on blog ... would love to in the ideal world...) My mum made Milly's dress. It was a stunning blue and the style was like the waves on the sea. It weighed a tonne - with 7 metres of tulle underneath the dress!

The sun shone at the chapel and the bride looked like a princess. Milly, who adores her aunts freezes when she first sees them as they have both looked like brides from a story book. Stunning! This is the only photo I have of the flowers at the moment - it is of the throw away posy.

Here is my other brother ... How dapper did they look! There is another wedding in the family early next year. Woo hoo :)

Lest We Forget

In some ways Anzac biscuits are a trivial way to remember those who served our country. In others, I think it can be helpful for us to stop and think about why we make them and how grateful we are to those who defended our freedom. My six year old is fascinated with war at the moment. They have been talking about Anzac Day at school. He thanked God the other night for looking after his great-Grandpa before he went to sleep. I thank God too.

http://www.taste.com.au/ is fast becoming the site that I visit to find all recipes.

Q & A with Sam from Little Chipipi

The Little Chipipi range of wall stickers are cheerful, lovely and made from high quality vinyl. They say that a pictures speaks a thousand words. Well, I believe this is true of the products we sell - they speak a multitude about their designer, including those of Sam from Little Chipipi. I am Little Chipipi's biggest fan :) She has just released Baby Animals and Flower Power.

1. How long have you been running your business? Little Chipipi started about 4 years ago

2. What were you doing prior to your current venture? Graphic Designer for 8 years

3. If you had to choose your favourite product from your range, what would it be & why? Probably the Butterfly wall stickers as they seem to suit so many different situations, from a new born to a 12year old girl....and I love all the patterns and how they fit together.

4. What do you do to relax? Going to the movies and going out for dinner. Also love holidays away somewhere.

5. If you were able to go wherever you wanted to this weekend, where would it be? We have just come back from Rottnest in WA which is always great, but I could see myself going to Thailand as I love the humidity and the beaches.

6. What was the last thing that you purchased? Probably something for my son Kaleb, he always seems to be who I am buying for.

7. Who lives at your place? Partner Rob, son Kaleb (4) and cat Petey (19)

High Tea

My paternal grandparents celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this week. So, so lovely. I wonder if they ever wondered back in London where they would be in 60 years time. Probably not celebrating at the Tea Rooms at George's Heights surrounded by four sons, their wives and too many grandchildren and great-grandchildren for me to count late at night!

I liked the chandeliers just as much as the view. Sydney's weather has been crazy of late - we saw Sydney drenched in rain and the sun shining in all it's glory.

Note the coloured pencils - they go everywhere with me ... and guess who ate ALL the pink cakes!

Special day :) Thank you mr mobile phone for allowing me to go!

Wedding Gift Registries ...

My brother is getting married very very soon :)

He and Davina (he is David!) have a gift registry and today I took an item (an ironing board) off their list and am REGRETTING it. I know that they need one. I know that it will be used each and every day, hopefully for the next 60 odd years, but how boring boring boring, especially from ME! I have a store full of gorgeous gifts and I succumbed to a little insert in their invitation. I wish I had bought them a cupboard full of a range of Pantone mugs in all the colours of the rainbow. Now that would be a gorgeous and fun gift! Not only would their cupboards look awesome, but it is a great way of keeping track of which one is your mug when visitors are over. Maybe I should put it down as my Mother's Day gift to myself!

I wonder if I can put the ironing board back on their list ........

Q & A with Nicole from Glasshouse

It is hard to believe that Glasshouse have only been around a little over two years! We have loved watching them grow and expand their range. Their energy is contagious!

{customer story} For Walls Woodland Friends

Thank you to Adrianna from Victoria who sent in this delightful photo of her sweet daughter Olivia enjoying her room having been recently decorated with the Forest Friends wall stickers.

More cakes ...

It is Thomas' birthday tomorrow and as I vowed never to be up at 2:30am again icing cakes Milly and I made vanilla cupcakes today. Thomas helped me decorate them after school, with Milly being responsible for the pink creations. We bought a cupcake from our local cafe together to copy. Is that a little cheeky? I figured since we shop there on almost a daily basis, it wasn't really. They look happy don't they! Even if a little wonky :)

I think I might take him to the cake shop to buy one for the family party!

Family Life: Party Day!

Today we celebrated Thomas' 6th birthday with his classmates. We are so grateful to the school community for the way we have been welcomed. He is having a blast! His teachers are delightful and his classmates are such happy kids. It is a joy to spend time with them & their families.
I took him to a cake decorating shop in Castle Hill where you can hire cake tins for $3 overnight. It is on Hoyle Ave, Castle Hill (behind Babies Galore). Darth Vader was already taken, but thankfully Scooby Doo was an acceptable alternative. Thank you too my facebook friends who gave encouragement & advice at midnight whilst I was watching it in the oven! I was pleased with the result - especially given it was decorated until 2.30am with droopy eyes ...
Now onto the cupcakes for morning tea at school, then the cake for the family celebration on Wednesday!

Q & A with Melissa from Melobaby

We haven't been selling Melobaby for very long - only a few months. It is FABULOUS! The mat is really, really soft and I love that a nappy bag isn't necessary. Nappy Bags are really not my thing ... Melobaby are already being distributed around the world, including the US and UK. They recently won a gold award for their design from http://www.bizziebaby.co.uk/ - Awesome! They are in good company with Trunki being awarded a silver. Well known brands Baby Bjorn and Grobag are the other two brands in the Gold category. CONGRATULATIONS Melissa!!!

Too exciting ...

Is my life really dull? No. Definitely not - but I do get excited by the new ranges, packaging, scents etc. I really wanted to eat a cake of MOR soap today - and I don't have pregnancy to blame, it just smelt really really yummy!

Laikonik Once a Year Albums have new packaging and now come with a cute chatter book in the matching design to the album. I love Laikonik. Too cute!
