More great shows from the UK

Animation is amazing. It is quite beyond me! My dad has bought some type of blue material that becomes a screen, enabling one to be able to do more sophisticated animation (somehow the computer distinguishes between the blue and the person being filmed). Do I sound out of my depth - I am. Anyway, it means that you can superimpose someone onto a different scene, such as they do in Grandpa in my pocket. Can't wait to see what he and Thomas come up with over the weekend. Thomas' news will be quite interesting on Monday at school!

The UK have other great shows soon to be seen here including Bookaboo which is receiving a lot of publicity as it has guest hosts such as Meatloaf and Scary Spice reading books, with the book coming to life thanks to computer animation. It is part of an initiative in the UK to improve literacy. Bookaboo is a world famous rock puppy who plays the drums. The problem is that he needs to hear a story before he can play! He even arrives in a helicopter. This show will be a hit! LOVE it! (Can you tell I am a primary school teacher?!!)

Thomas wants to be a director when he grows up (like George Lucas). With a little help from his grandpa, it will be very interesting to see where he ends up working!

Publicity

I pinch myself sometimes that I am doing what I am doing. What is a primary school teacher doing with a webstore?! Shopping for products, communicating with customers, sending press releases! Crazy. I would never have guessed.

I have always loved magazines. One of my earliest memories is sitting in my grandparents spare bedroom and going through my grandma's collection of AWW. Now not a day goes by where I am not doing a quick flick through a magazine. The first time I saw Mummy's Favourite in 'print' I felt very weird, a bit surreal really. My business, my name etc etc. A bit of a 'moment'. Anyway, I still feel a little like that every time we are mentioned. Another plug for the ABC

Finished watching The House Of Elliott Series 3 last night. Very sad that there was never a series 4 as it finishes with too many loose ends ...

The House of Elliott has been one of my favourite BBC productions. It revolves around the lives of two sisters who open a high end fashion house. I love the fashion, music ... wallpaper! I am a bit spoilt as dad buys a lot of DVDs as he knows that they will be passed around various members of the family.

Noticed that Lost in Austen starts tomorrow night on ABC. Yay :) Very pleased about this as I have been on Dad's 'library' waiting list for this for a while.

Ideas, Ideas, Ideas!!!

My head is buzzing with ideas thanks to some late night trawling of blogs (helps me stay awake when feeding Henry...)

I have come across some blogs that I am loving for their enthusiasm, ideas and general loveliness! Viv from Ish and Chi posted a photo of her kitchen glass cabinets that she popped some wallpaper on the back wall of. I LOVE it & realised that it is exactly what mine is missing. When I get a chance, I will take a photo and show you what I mean but in the meantime - here is hers.

A touch of Nigella ...

I stumbled across a fabulous blog called A Dash of Cinnamon - it is full of gorgeous cakes. They are amazing. I wish I could ice cakes properly. I can cook but not decorate. My mum rescues my cake decorating efforts.

One of my earliest memories is visiting my grandma at her work when she worked at Foodtown in New Zealand (like Woolworths). Her job was to ice the cakes. It is an art!

A Dash of Cinnamon also has dinner ideas, brunch ideas and a recipe for a VERY yummy looking flourless hazelnut cake... I can feel the kgs piling on since finding this site...

Honey, I Shrunk Grandpa!

It is because of my dad that our kids have rather wild imaginations. Sometimes I find them sitting in the timber boat in the garage pretending that they are out at sea, complete with their life jackets on, other times they are setting up a beach in the lounge room - shells, towels, umbrella etc. Their latest escapades have been based around Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Big Cook, Little Cook and The Borrowers. You can imagine their delight when Dad discovered a brand new BBC show called Grandpa in my pocket. My kids have been carrying around Fisher Price Little People this week pretending that it is their Grandpa and Granny.

I don't know when it is due out for release in Australia - we are screening each new issue of Foxtel's CBeebies guide. I am so pleased that there is another BBC show that they will like - Milly was starting to sound like Dora ...

The Sydney Morning Herald had an article today about identifying your interior style. There was a quiz - one of those ones that is "mostly a's, b's" etc. Hopeless with me - I answered one of each - but it was interesting seeing what questions they used to try to pigeon hole the reader. I love this snap - sophisticated retro. That's me ... maybe with some nostalgic nest, mixed with some hamptons white wash. I don't know .. I think I have my own style!

I have shopped online for all sorts of things over the past 10 years. My first online purchase was from shopfast.com.au in 1999. I have dabbled in ebay, although not much anymore unless it is somethings that I can't find anywhere else. Having purchases delivered really does make such a difference, even more so now that I have kids.

We have struggled finding a decent fruit and vegetables supplier until now. My problem is that I compare all product with that which is found in New Zealand. My recent find is http://www.fruitandveg2u.com.au/. I am only sorry for those of you not in Sydney's north west that they don't deliver wider. The best produce I have seen in a very very long time. It is a fabulous feeling to find a supplier that you can be confident in and know that I can tick that box, no more shopping around. Fresh, delicious fruit and vegetables delivered to my kitchen - HOORAY!
